Case Study – Wingman Mentoring

Wingman Mentoring is a new startup business created by Shaun McGrath. The aim of the business is to assist driven individuals. Shaun assists them in reaching both their business and personal goals. The idea for Wingman Mentoring was to attract people of all varieties. The expertise and attention to detail that provided by Shaun being the main attraction.

Prior to pursuing this new path with Wingman Mentoring, Shaun was a tradie who grew his own business into an empire. This background in business has allowed Shaun to connect with similarly minded people. These relationships allowed him to learn the tricks of the trade. Shaun has experienced the struggle that business owners endure first hand. It is the knowledge that he was once in a similar situation which fuels his desire to help and guide his clients. Wingman Mentoring can help them achieve their definition of success .

Objective

As a business owner, Shaun has unique insight into what makes a business successful. This knowhow allowed us to create a clear direction with the design of the Wingman Mentoring website. Given our experience working with a variety of industries at theartistree, we were able to harness Shaun’s business experience and convey his message in a manner reflective of his aims. With some direction from Shaun regarding certain features and design elements we were given the relative freedom. This allowed us to create something that was vibrant whilst also conveying a high level of professionalism. 

Balancing these two components is integral to how theartistree go about creating websites. In this specific case, Shaun’s choice of vibrant colours lent itself to inspiring a sense of joy in the user. The content of the website, however, provided a more business like approach.

It was essential that we marry the client’s ideas for what would be visually appealing with what is possible in web design. Website development has certain restraining factors when compared to the typical graphic design modalities. Shaun made this a straightforward process. We strove to implement his design in accordance with best website development practice.

Making the website discoverable, as per our standard SEO processes, was important. We focused the content and keywords on the target audience as well as optimised the website for google’s search engine. This allows the website perform its role in drawing attention to the business. 

What we achieved

Theartistree delivered a website that uses best SEO practice and is also stylistically in keeping with Shaun’s vision. As previously mentioned, the client was receptive to our feedback. This meant that the process of establishing a vision in collaboration with them was enjoyable and swift. As with all website builds, there were challenges regarding plugins, forms and the like. However, we at theartistree like to think that these challenges liven up the process. They make us think outside of the box to meet the clients wishes and deliver a quality product.

The greatest joy of completing this job for Shaun was having the freedom to provide a vibrant website that is simple in its layout, but effective in its purpose. We implemented design practices which we feel separates Wingman Mentoring from that of his competitors.

This website needed to be fresh in its appearance, but also not too bulky in the backend to prioritise speed and performance. This is best achieved by minimising the amount of excess clutter in the backend, as well as using optimisation tools to help ensure that the User Experience (UX) is seamless. We were able to avoid the use of excessive code and needlessly obtuse plugins to achieve a website that runs fast and smoothly. 

Outcome

Overall, we developed a website for Wingman Mentoring which captured their desired brand identity. With the overall aim being to drive potential customers to the business, we at theartistree feel the website services this goal. The client assisted us in this process by leveraging their industry knowledge. The feedback they provided us with throughout the process was invaluable. Website design and development is an undertaking that requires cooperation. With this in mind, having a client who was receptive to our feedback was immensely helpful.
